About Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar
Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar completed her MBBS and Diploma in Ophthalmology from the University of Dhaka. Then she completed FCPS in Ophthalmology from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is the first female Ophthalmologist in Bangladesh to achieve the FRCS degree from Royal College of Glasgow, with her second FRCS from Royal College of Edinburgh. She is a renowned Vitreo-Retina surgeon. She did her long-term fellowship in Vitreo-Retina from LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India and Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital (Islamic Eye Hospital), Dhaka. She worked many years in Islamic Eye Hospital as Head of Retina department and currently is working as Professor and Head of Retina department of Lions Eye Institute and Hospital, Dhaka. Not only did she specialize in Vitreo-Retina surgery, she has extensive experience in Ophthalmic Trauma and Cataract Surgery. She has performed more than 10,000 surgeries. She is a mentor of the long-term retina fellowship program. She is a teacher and examiner of Diploma and FCPS Ophthalmology for postgraduate students. Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar is an expert in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). She had her training on ROP from LVPEI, Hyderabad, India. She is one of the pioneers in the screening & treating of ROP in Bangladesh.
